At a press conference, we presented the project to journalists

After a long time, the Trenčín Synagogue opened its doors to the press public. An introductory conference of the project of restoration of this unique building took place on its premises on 2. June, 2021. The area, which will soon be renovated, was visited by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Slovakia, representatives of the Ministry of Investment, local government representatives, the Regional Monuments Office in Trenčín and the Regional Tourism Organization. The event took place under strict anti-pandemic measures.

More than 100 years ago, newspapers reported on the construction of the synagogue

From 1911, information began to appear in the local Hungarian-German newspaper Vágvölgyi Lap related to the urgent need to build a new Jewish synagogue. After the general assembly of the Jewish community, led by its chairman Henrik Kácser, elected a new building committee on October 28, 1910, the search began for suitable land under the synagogue.

The Trenčín synagogue received funding for reconstruction

The Jewish community Trenčín was successful with its project "Restoration, Reconstruction and Revitalization of the Synagogue in Trenčín". Funding for the repair of the synagogue and the subsequent creation of a cultural center was obtained from EEA Grants and the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
